Worlds
What Are Worlds?
Worlds are the overarching projects in Abound Worlds, serving as the foundation for your storywriting and worldbuilding needs. Worlds hold all the information on your project's files, timelines, and more that help bring your creative vision to life. Think of a world as the central hub where all your ideas and creations come together.
Creating a World
To start using Abound Worlds, you'll need to create your first world:
- Start a New World: From the home page, simply navigate to the "Create World" option. Give your new world a name that represents the new project you are starting.
- Choose a Template: When creating a world, you have the option to start from a pre-made template, or start from scratch. Templates will pre-create categories and folders tailored for your use case.
- Create and Start Designing: Once your world is created, you can immediately start adding new items and plan out your world.
Core Pages of a World
Each world contains two core pages: Files and Timeline. These serve as the primary tools for organizing and exploring your world.
Files Page
The Files page is where you will manage and organize all of your items. It contains categories, which help group together your folders and documents.
- Categories: Create categories to organize your items without having to deeply nest your items
- Folders: Use folders to group related documents under a single heading. For example, a "Characters" folder might contain documents for all of the characters in your world. Folders also contain a details & gallery page, allowing you to use them as documents with items also inside.
- Documents: Documents hold all detailed information about any specific element of your world, such as character profiles, magical rules, locations, weapons, and so much more.
Timeline Page
The Timeline page will help you chart the history and progression of your world through eras and events:
- Eras: Define significant periods in your worlds history, such as "The Age of Exploration" or "Common Era".
- Events: Within each era, add events to detail key occurences, like battles, discoveries, or major character milestones.
Tips for Organizing Your World
- Plan Your Categories: Before diving in, think about how you want to categorize your world's elements. A well-organized structure makes it easier to find and expand upon your ideas.
- Add Visuals: Use the Gallery sections on your items to enhance your worldbuilding with images. This could include character portraits, maps, sketches, and so much more.
With these tools and features, you can design rich, details, and well organized worlds that will help bring your stories to life. Start creating and see where your imagination takes you!
