Timeline
What Is the Timeline Page?
The Timeline page is where you manage and visualize your world's historical progression. It allows you to create and organize all of the eras and events in your world, giving structure to your world's history and making it easier to track significant occurences over time.
Understanding the Timeline Page Layout
The Timeline page consists of two key components:
- The Timeline: A visual representation of your world's chronology, showing events within the desired timespan.
- Events Container: Provided a list of all events within the desired timespan, displayed in a card form. This container is located at the bottom of the page.
Creating Eras
Eras are the major divisions of your world's timeline. To create an era:
- Open Create Menu: Simply right click anywhere on the timeline page and select the Create Era option.
- Era Name: Choose a distinct era name and abbreviation.
- Era Years: Choose a start and year for your era.
Creating Events
Events mark specific occurences within your world's timeline. To create an event:
- Open Create Menu: Simply right click anywhere on the timeline page and select the Create Event option.
- Event Name: Choose a name for the desired event.
- Event Level: Select the level of significance the event has. Core, Major, Moderate, Minor, Trivial.
- Event Timespan: Select the start and end dates of the event.
Navigating the Timeline
- Select a Date Range: At the top of the page, you can select a date range to only show events within that specific range
- Timeline Icons: Hovering over event icons on the timeline will show you the event's information card. Clicking on the card will open the event's details section.
- Events Container: Scroll through the events container to see more events.
- Event Sections: To access any event's Details or Gallery section, simply right click on any event and select Details or Gallery. Left clicking on an event will automatically open the Details section.
Tips for Using the Timeline Page Effectively
- Organize with Eras: Structure your timeline with eras to provide a clear framework for your world's history.
- Prioritize with Event Levels: Assing event levels to quickly identify the most critical events in your timeline.
- Utilize Date Filters: Focus on specific periods by selecting a date range, helping you manage and analyze smaller portions of your timeline.
- Regularly Update: As your world evolves, keep your timeline up to date by adding, editing, or removing eras and events.
