Folders

Folders are an essential item type in Abound Worlds, designed to help you organize and structure your worldbuilding content efficiently. They act as containers for related documents, allowing you to group and categorize your information in a logical and accessible way.

Folders are stored in the Files page of your world. This is the central hub for managing all your folders and documents. Use folders to create a clear hierarchy within your world, making it easier to find and work on specific elements.

To create and manage folders, follow these steps:

1. Create a New Folder: Select the New Item option, and choose folder.
2. Naming Your Folder: Give your folder a meaningful name that reflects its contents, such as "Characters", "Locations", or "Vehicles".
3. Adding a Stripe Color: Choosing a stripe color can help you better organize your items in case the amount of folders grow quite large.
4. Add Items inside Folder: Once a folder has been created, you can add documents or more folders inside of the newly created folder using the same method.

Folders can also contain categories, which serves as groups of items that remain visible within the folder. Categories provide an additional layer of organization while keeping all items accessible at a glance.

• Categories: Separate items into distinct groups that are visible within the parent folder. This allows you to see and access all items without navigating deeper.
• Subfolders: Create nested groups that require you to enter the subfolder to view its contents. Use subfolders for more detailed or compartmentalized organization.

Each folder has two main sections: Details and Gallery

• Details: The Details section is where you store all the textual and informational content related to the item.
• Gallery: The Gallery section is dedicated to visual content related to the item. This is where you can upload and organize images.

• Plan Your Structure: Before creating folders, outline how you want to organize your world. A clear structure will save you time and effort later.
• Use Descriptive Names: Give your folders intuitive names that make their contents immediately clear.
• Leverage Categories and Subfolders: For complex worlds, use categories to help separate contents into distinct groups, and use subfolders to store large amounts of contents in smaller, more manageable sections.
• Add Images: Enhance your items with images in the Gallery section to help bring your ideas to life.
